More people, more work for volunteer lifeguards
Santa Teresa welcomes a growing number of surfers, swimmers and visitors. While more people enjoy the beach, volunteer lifeguards face greater demand for prevention, rescues and emergency response, often with limited resources.
People who benefit from the beach should also have a practical way to support the local service they rely on.
Santa Teresa’s live surf camera
Nomads Give Back is raising funds to purchase and install in Santa Teresa Beach a live surf camera.
The camera will allow people to check current surf conditions before heading out, providing a useful service for surfers and other beach users.
The camera is intended to show general conditions. It will not replace lifeguards, beach flags or official safety information.
From one donation campaign to recurring support
The project will work in two stages:
Initial donations will fund the camera
The fundraiser will cover the verified equipment, installation and launch costs.Subscriptions will support the lifeguards
Once the camera is live, people will pay a small monthly subscription to access it. This recurring income will support Santa Teresa’s lifeguards.
By funding the initial setup, donors are helping create more than a surf camera. They are helping establish a long-term model through which beach users can contribute to the volunteer lifeguard service as the community continues to grow.
Why we chose it
The number of surfers, swimmers and visitors using Santa Teresa Beach creates additional demand for prevention, rescue and emergency response.
This project combines a practical service for beach users with a longer-term contribution model. Instead of relying only on a one-time donation, paid access to the livestream can generate recurring support for the volunteer lifeguard service.
The project will move forward only after the lifeguards’ needs, responsibilities and funding arrangements have been confirmed.
Where the money goes
The fundraising goal will be based on verified quotations for the camera, installation, connectivity and other essential launch costs.
How we show proof
Nomads Give Back will document the project through:
- Installation and launch updates
- Photos of the installed camera
- Total amount raised and spent
- Amount remaining after installation
Sensitive financial, technical and personal information will not be published.
Who controls the funds
The funds will be jointly managed by Nomads Give Back and Santa Teresa’s lifeguards.
Nomads Give Back will collect and document the donations, while spending decisions and payments will be coordinated with the lifeguards. The amounts raised, spent and transferred will be reported in the project updates.
